Due to its global and international importance, especially in the areas of Middle East and the United Arab Emirates, the UNESCO decided to adopt Arabic as a third official language after English and French languages in 1984.

 

In 1974, the first UNESCO conference in the Arabic language was held based on a set of proposals adopted by many Arab countries, and this resulted to the adoption of the Arabic language as one of the international languages used in international conferences.
